Alternating Minimization Algorithms for CT Imaging in the Presence of Foreign Metal Objects

In this talk, a statistical image reconstruction algorithm for transmission tomography will be presented. The algorithm performs alternating minimization of an I-divergence objective function, which, as will be shown, is equivalent to maximum-likelihood estimation for this particular problem. Some applications of this algorithm will be discussed, such as metal artifact reduction, missing data, and 3D image reconstruction.
