Dual Energy CT Imaging Conventional methods of CT image reconstruction are unable to reproduce exact attenuation values of scanned objects. Dual energy CT imaging has been used in an attempt to obtain quatitatively accurate images. In DE-CT, two separate scans are taken using two distinct energy spectra. Most proposed methods involve a pre-processing of the data, or a post-processing of the reconstructed images. However, because these methods still use conventional methods of image reconstruction, they have large errors particularly at low energies and are not accurate enough for most medical applications. We present an integrated dual energy algorithm which is an extension of the polyenergetic Alternating Minimization(AM) algorithm and compare its performance to a post-processing method. |
