Schedule Discussion

  • Mostly we work straight through the book. We occasionally skip sections.
  • I may skip Chapter 6 on gambling this year in order to introduce new material toward the end and spend more time in rate-distortion theory. Gambling is fun, however, so I will try to address it in some way.
  • The schedule is ambitious, but necessary for a good introduction to this active research area.
